I recently received a candle from Glade from their new holiday collection.  I LOVE scented candles and I have always LOVED Glade.  This one did not disappoint.  I loved the scent (Bayberry Spice), it smelled just like a Christmas tree.  I lit it one night when we had guest and had several compliments on the scent.  I lit it in the kitchen and you could smell it throughout the main areas of the house, I love when the scent is that good.  I really love the new container for the candle.  It was a tin can and has a nice decorative look to it.

Welcome to this week’s edition of Aloha Friday.

In Hawaii, Aloha Friday is the day that we take it easy and look forward to the weekend. So I thought that on Fridays I would take it easy on posting, too. Therefore, I’ll ask a simple question for you to answer. Nothing that requires a lengthy response.

Well I sitting here with some kind of flu (hoping it is not swine but could be) and miserable.  So my question is what do you do when your really feeling yucky to make yourself feel better?  Or do you do anything but sleep, having a hard time doing that!

What a wonderful idea they had when they created the Shandle.  It has a wonderful message about washing your hands after going to the bathroom.  You stick it on the bottom of the toilet seat and teach your children to grab it instead of touching the seat.  You do need to keep it stuck on for 24 hrs before using it to give it time to stay stuck on but we have had no problems with it coming off after doing this.   There are so many germs on the toilet seat at all times (even after cleaning)  so this is a great way to minimize exposure to them. 

The shandle was very easy to install and  has been very easy to clean.  I hear my youngest yelling sometimes, “I have to wash my hands” after seeing the message.  It is truly a great visual for kids with the reminder and picture and kids love that.  I love the texture and illustration on it, makes it very cute and kid friendly. 

The Shandle encourage kids to practice healthy bathroom habits like proper hand washing, consistent seat lifting/lowering and regular flushing. In addition it provides a cleaner and easier way to lift and lower the toilet seat.

These are only a few examples of germs that are derailed by proper hand washings.

• Streptococcus: Strep throat is a contagious disease caused by the streptococcus bacteria. Strep is most commonly seen in children between the ages of 5 and 16. Although there is no perfect way to avoid strep throat infections, experts agree that washing your hands often is an excellent start.

• Staphylococcus: Staph contains over thirty different types of bacteria and is responsible for a number of illnesses. If staph is present around your kids- hand washing will go a long way to keeping it at bay.

• E.Coli: A sick child who doesn’t wash his hands after using the bathroom can spread bacteria throughout the house in a matter of seconds. Teaching kids the importance of hand washing will reduce the likelihood of germs spreading.

• Shigella Bacteria: Most common during the summer months Shigella typically affects kids 2 to 4 years old. Symptoms include cramps, diarrhea and vomiting. The infection is very contagious and can be prevented with good hand washing practices.

My 5 yr old LOVES this site.  She has adopted a puppy and would play with this all day if I let her.  It reminds me of webkinz exept it is FREE, you don’t have to buy anything.  You do have the choice to buy tokens and your children can earn tokens  for outfits or their home by playing games.  The world is very colorful and fun to look at!  There is a chat, (great thing is no open typing allowed) so you feel good about letting them go there. 

My daughter can also decide if the games are too hard or too easy and adjust them for her level, it is really a fun place to play!  You have to check it out!
